Our Lord descended to this earth
In form of man to live.
The power of eternal love
was what He brought to give.





Two admonitions only
He presented in His plan--
“You must love God with all your heart
and love your fellow man.





But man would not accept Him,
and a deaf ear to Him turned.
Rejecting and defiling him,
His gift of love they spurned.





He bore the burden of the cross,
and for mankind He cried.
And finally, upon that cross,
for sins of man He died.





His spirit, though, He left behind,
abiding with us still
To comfort and to guide mankind
in following His will.





The love of God transcends the hate
eroding hearts of man,
Can thwart the evil force that spreads
throughout its worldwide span





Whenever I feel weary,
overwhelmed by pain and fear,
I reach out for His Presence,
and I sense that God is near.





And when my burden seems so great
I can no longer bear,
I feel a peace and comfort,
for I know that God is there.
